Datti Baba-Ahmed Denies Declaring Presidential Ambition

Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, has denied claims that he recently announced plans to run for president. Speaking on Channels Television on Friday, Baba-Ahmed said his comments were misunderstood and wrongly presented as a declaration of presidential ambition. “I never declared to contest the presidency two days ago.” He explained that his recent statements were only meant to confirm that he remains a member of the Labour Party, especially amid ongoing conversations about the party’s future and the roles of its prominent figures. While admitting that political possibilities may arise later, he stressed that no decision or announcement has been made. His clarification follows widespread reports suggesting he was positioning himself for a presidential bid ahead of the next general election, a development that triggered intense debate among supporters and political analysts. Providing further clarification, Baba-Ahmed said, “Two days ago, what I did was simply say that I remain in the Labour Party. I never declared to contest the presidency, even though there could be a possibility of that happening. I certainly did not declare for the presidency. I reiterated my membership of the Labour Party, and that is all.” He added that any formal declaration would only come after the Independent National Electoral Commission releases its timetable and the Labour Party opens its internal process. “The submission I made was that one will have to wait for the INEC timetable and for the party to make the call for people to indicate their interest. I did not declare.”

Manchester City Complete Antoine Semenyo Transfer From Bournemouth On Five-And-A-Half-Year Deal

Manchester City have officially announced the acquisition of Ghanaian attacker Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth, securing his services on a long-term contract. The Premier League champions confirmed that the 26-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half-year agreement that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031. “Manchester City are delighted to confirm the signing of Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth. The 26-year-old has penned a five-and-a-half-year deal, which will see him stay at the Etihad Stadium through to 2031.” Semenyo joins City after a standout spell at Bournemouth, where his explosive pace, power and consistency saw him emerge as one of the league’s most threatening forwards. “Semenyo has enjoyed a meteoric rise to become one of the Premier League’s most feared forwards.” He featured 110 times for the Cherries after arriving midway through the 2022/23 season, quickly becoming a key figure in their attack. Born in London to Ghanaian parents, Semenyo began his career at Bristol City before gaining experience on loan at Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland. Those spells helped shape his development before he made his breakthrough in the Premier League. Primarily operating from the left side of an attacking midfield setup, his performances at Bournemouth attracted strong interest, with City eventually moving to complete the transfer. Speaking on his move, Semenyo described joining Pep Guardiola’s side as a major milestone in his career. “I am so proud to have joined Manchester City. I have watched City over the last decade under Pep Guardiola, and they have been the dominant team in the Premier League as well as achieving amazing things in the Champions League, FA Cup, and League Cup. “They have set the highest of standards, and it’s a club with world-class players, world-class facilities, and one of the greatest managers ever in Pep. “I have so much scope for improvement, so to be at this club, at this stage of my career, is perfect for me. It’s a real privilege to be here.” The Ghana international also expressed confidence that his peak years are still ahead. “My best football is yet to come, I am sure of that. And City are in a great position – still involved in four competitions. I really feel I can help them have a strong second half of the season. “The Etihad is my new home. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans here, and I hope to show everyone what I can do.” City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, revealed that Semenyo was the club’s priority target during the January transfer window. “Antoine is a really exciting signing for the football club. He made it clear to us immediately that it was City he wanted to join. “He has huge quality. Two great feet, pace, power, a habit of influencing games, and, importantly, real room for growth and development. “We are constantly watching players all over the world. Antoine was the one we most wanted. He has shown he can perform in the Premier League. He is humble, hard-working, professional, and totally focused on being a better footballer. He is ideal for us.” Semenyo is available for immediate selection and could feature in City’s Carabao Cup semi-final first-leg clash against Newcastle next Tuesday.

Donald Trump Denies Sean “Diddy” Combs Pardon Request

Donald Trump has rejected Sean “Diddy” Combs’ request for a presidential pardon, saying he has no intention of granting clemency to the music mogul. Combs, 56, is serving a four-year prison sentence after being convicted last July on two counts of transporting people across state lines for prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. Trump confirmed that Combs had sent him a letter seeking a pardon but added that he was not inclined to act on it. In an interview with The New York Times published Thursday, Trump also made it clear he does not plan to pardon several other high-profile figures, including deposed Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, disgraced crypto tycoon Sam Bankman-Fried, and former Democratic senator Robert Menendez. When asked about Derek Chauvin, the ex-Minneapolis officer convicted of murdering George Floyd, Trump said he had not been approached regarding a pardon. Trump has granted clemency to a number of individuals in the past, including over 1,500 people involved in the January 6, 2021 US Capitol attack and Honduran ex-president Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was serving a 45-year sentence for drug trafficking. The former president’s comments underscore his selective approach to pardons, favoring political allies and loyalists while denying requests from celebrities and other controversial figures.

Portable Blasts Ashabi Simple, Declares He’s Done With Her Forever

Portable has gone on a furious rant against his baby mama, Ashabi Simple, following a serious disagreement between them, declaring that their relationship is completely over. Speaking during a livestream, the singer made it clear that he has no emotional attachment to her anymore and ruled out any chance of reconciliation. “I am no longer interested in you and I can never love you again even if a knife is put on my neck,” he said. Portable also addressed Ashabi’s decision to take the matter to court, stressing that they were never legally married. “I didn’t marry you legally so why are you taking me to court because we had a fight?” he asked. I am done with you.” He went on to warn that her actions would have lasting consequences, adding, “In future you will tell your children that you took their dad to court.” The singer then launched personal attacks, accusing Ashabi of trying to ruin his home. “Shameless woman that got pregnant for someone else’s husband,” he said, alleging she deliberately involved gossip blog Gistlover. “You went to tell Gistlover that you were pregnant for me because you wanted to destroy my home.” Portable ended the outburst with a harsh curse directed at her, saying, “Pami baby it shall not be well with you,” further escalating the already tense public fallout between the pair.

Arsenal Miss Chance To Extend Premier League Lead After Goalless Draw With Liverpool

Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw by Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday, missing the opportunity to stretch their Premier League lead to eight points. Liverpool, who have struggled for consistency this season, produced a composed performance that ended Arsenal’s five-match winning streak. The closest either side came to breaking the deadlock was when Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley cleverly chipped Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya following a mix-up with center back William Saliba, only for the ball to bounce off the crossbar. Arsenal managed just four shots on target and looked unusually disjointed, leaving home fans frustrated. Despite the setback, the Gunners still head the table, maintaining a six-point advantage over second-place Manchester City and third-place Aston Villa with 17 games remaining. Both City and Villa drew on Wednesday against Brighton and Crystal Palace, respectively, keeping Arsenal strong favorites for their first league title since 2004. Liverpool remain in fourth place, extending their unbeaten league run to 10 games. The defending champions looked more solid at the back but lacked firepower up front, missing injured strikers Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, while Mohamed Salah is away with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations. Adding to their concerns, Bradley had to be carried off on a stretcher in stoppage time with a suspected ankle injury, casting a shadow over Liverpool’s performance.
