PRESIDENT TINUBU'S EASTER MESSAGE TO THE NATION

PRESIDENT TINUBU’S EASTER MESSAGE TO THE NATION

I heartily felicitate Christians in Nigeria and worldwide as they commemorate Easter, the celebration of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection—the cornerstone of the Christian faith. The Holy Week, which spans Palm Sunday through Holy Thursday and Good Friday and culminates in Easter Sunday, calls us to reflect deeply on the enduring values of sacrifice, redemption, love, and hope. As President of our blessed nation, I draw inspiration from this timeless message of hope and renewal. I remain steadfast in my commitment to delivering the promise of a Renewed Hope, a better, more just, and prosperous Nigeria for all. The recent tragic incidents and the loss of lives in some parts of our country deeply saddened me. I understand the pain and fear these incidents have caused. Let me assure you that my administration’s resolve to restore peace and security remains unshakable. Forces of evil will never prevail over our country. I have given clear directives to the Armed Forces and all relevant security agencies to end insecurity decisively and without delay. With the unwavering courage and commitment of our gallant men and women in uniform, we are turning the tide and making steady progress in reclaiming peace and stability. We are also grateful to all Nigerians for your patience and resilience as our economy begins to show encouraging signs of recovery. We understand the economic challenges many of you are facing, and we are working tirelessly to restore investor confidence, stabilise key sectors, and build an inclusive economy that serves the interests of all Nigerians. During this Easter, we join the global Christian community in thanking God for Pope Francis’s recovery. We pray that his renewed strength continues to inspire his leadership and service to humanity. I earnestly pray that Easter’s spirit fills every heart and home with renewed faith in the immense possibilities ahead of us as a nation. Just as Christ triumphed over death, so too shall our country triumph over every challenge we face. The present moment may be cloudy, but it will usher in a glorious day. I urge all Nigerians to remain hopeful, united, and resolute in pursuing national progress. The task before us is enormous, but together, with faith and determination, there is no obstacle we cannot overcome. Our unity and resilience are our greatest strengths. May the risen Christ bless our homes with peace and our nation with continued unity and prosperity. Happy Easter to all my fellow Nigerians Bola Ahmed TinubuPresident and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed ForcesFederal Republic of Nigeria

WAEC Introduces Groundbreaking Changes for the 2025 WASSCE: A New Era in Examination Integrity

WAEC Introduces Groundbreaking Changes for the 2025 WASSCE: A New Era in Examination Integrity

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled a series of transformative changes to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), signalling a major step forward in the fight against examination malpractice. Among the key reforms is the introduction of computer-based testing (CBT) for objective sections of the exams, marking a significant shift from the traditional pen-and-paper format. According to WAEC, theory and practical papers will still be conducted manually, but the adoption of CBT is aimed at increasing efficiency, accuracy, and speed in the assessment process. The council noted that this hybrid approach will allow students to adapt gradually to a more digital examination structure while maintaining fairness and accessibility across all regions. In addition, WAEC is implementing a revamped registration process that includes enhanced biometric verification to curb impersonation and data falsification. Question randomization technology will also be introduced to reduce the likelihood of cheating, as no two students will receive the same set of questions in the same order. These innovations, WAEC says, are designed to restore public confidence in the examination system and promote a culture of integrity among students and schools. The council emphasized that this marks the beginning of a new era in educational assessment across West Africa, ensuring that results reflect true merit and academic achievement.

Ondo Police Clear Oluremi Tinubu’s Convoy in Girl’s Death, Hunt Hit-and-Run Driver

The Ondo State Police Command has officially cleared the convoy of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, of any involvement in a tragic car accident that led to the death of a seven-year-old girl in Akure, the state capital. In a press statement e-signed on Thursday by the Command’s PPRO, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola and received by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP, said investigations and eyewitness testimonies confirmed that the First Lady’s convoy was not linked to the incident. This clarification comes amid circulating reports on social media alleging that a vehicle from Sen. Tinubu’s convoy was responsible for the child’s death. However, the police have firmly dismissed those claims, describing them as unfounded and misleading. “Eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigations conducted by the Ondo State Police Command have confirmed that the incident was caused by a hit-and-run driver operating an unregistered white Lexus vehicle — not by any vehicle belonging to or associated with the First Lady’s convoy,” the statement said. According to the police, the fatal incident occurred around the Oba Ile area of Akure. A witness reportedly chased the fleeing Lexus driver on a motorcycle in an attempt to track the vehicle immediately after the crash. This account, the statement noted, was corroborated by multiple individuals at the scene, including the parents of the deceased child. “The Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, was personally present and met with the grieving family to ensure a full and transparent investigation. At no point was the First Lady’s convoy involved in this tragedy,” Ayanlade added. The police extended their condolences to the bereaved family and assured the public that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the driver responsible for the hit-and-run. They also appealed to the public to assist with any information that could help locate the suspect. “We urge anyone with any useful information to please come forward or report to the nearest police station or security post,” the statement concluded.
