Tolu Odukoya Reflects On End Of Marriage, Calls It Circumstances Beyond Her Control

Associate Senior Pastor of The Fountain of Life Church, Tolu Odukoya, has broken her silence on her failed marriage, describing her separation as an experience that changed her life. Speaking in an interview with Truthtable, shared on her YouTube channel, the 40-year-old pastor disclosed that many people were unaware of her marital status. “I’ll say it plainly—I’m separated. Most people don’t know, but it has shaped my life. It was circumstances beyond my control,” she said. She likened the collapse of her marriage to losing a loved one. “You don’t enter into a marriage to leave it. When your marriage ends, it’s like a death,” she explained. Despite the painful experience, Odukoya stressed that separation does not necessarily mean fault. “My ex-husband is a great man, but if God hasn’t ordained the union and you try to force it, the chances of lasting together are very slim,” she added. Odukoya recalled enduring a series of personal losses between 2021 and 2023, including the deaths of her stepmother, her father’s twin sister, and her father, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, who passed away in the United States in August 2023. She also reflected on her pastoral journey, saying she felt unqualified at first. “When the call came, I told God, ‘You see all the baggage I’m carrying, but if You want me to serve, then maybe You’ve put something in me.’ I just kept my eyes on Jesus,” she said. Grateful for her family’s support, she noted: “My siblings were amazing, my dad fought for me, and my family encouraged me. Their embrace helped rebuild my self-esteem.” Advising others, Odukoya urged people not to remain in troubled marriages just because of public perception. “Don’t stay somewhere unhealthy because of what people will say. People will talk, but they’ll move on,” she concluded. Her brother, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, now leads The Fountain of Life Church following their father’s passing, while Tolu continues to serve as associate pastor.

Mohbad’s Father Gives Lagos Attorney General 14 Days To Prosecute Wife, Nurse And Prime Boy

Mr. Joseph Oluwabamiwo Aloba, father of the late music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has petitioned the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), to prosecute those indicted in connection with his son’s death. The petition, dated October 3, 2025, was filed through his counsel, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), and submitted to the Ministry of Justice in Alausa, Ikeja. It demands that within 14 days, legal action be taken against Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi Aloba, the auxiliary nurse, Miss Ogedengbe Fisayo, Ibrahim Owodunni a.k.a. Prime Boy, and others present in the singer’s apartment at the time of his death. The petition followed the coroner’s verdict delivered on July 11, 2025, by Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi, which found the individuals complicit. The coroner ruled that Miss Fisayo, who is not a certified nurse, doctor, or pharmacist, administered three injections to Mohbad without proper medical diagnosis, describing her actions as unlawful medical practice and gross negligence. The coroner also faulted Omowunmi, describing her decision to allow treatment by an uncertified auxiliary nurse and her failure to insist on emergency or hospital care as negligent. Others in the apartment, including Prime Boy, were indicted for either inviting the nurse or failing to ensure timely hospital treatment. Dr. Shittu stressed that despite these findings, no prosecutorial steps have been taken nearly three months after the verdict. He urged the Attorney General to take immediate action in the interest of justice, or alternatively, grant his legal team a fiat to prosecute the matter on behalf of the state. He emphasized that the matter has drawn wide public attention and outrage, insisting that justice must not only be done but be seen to be done.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan Says Chibok Girls Abduction Still Haunts His Legacy

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has described the 2014 abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls as a lasting and painful scar on his time in office. Jonathan spoke on Friday at the public presentation of SCARS: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum, a memoir by retired Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor. He praised Irabor, calling him “a soldier who stood for truth and never played politics with security.” Reflecting on the Chibok tragedy, Jonathan said, “The title of this book is quite interesting. One of the major scars on my government is the Chibok Girls. As Bishop Kukah said, no plastic or cosmetic surgeon can remove it. It is a scar I will die with.” The abduction of 276 schoolgirls in Borno State triggered global outrage and the #BringBackOurGirls campaign. While some girls escaped or were rescued, more than 80 are still missing. Jonathan recounted that Boko Haram began in 2009 while he was Vice President under Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and grew during his presidency. “I battled Boko Haram for five years as President. I thought Buhari would wipe them out quickly, but they remain,” he said. He stressed that the insurgency is far more complex than commonly perceived and urged Nigeria to rethink its strategies to effectively tackle the threat.

Federal High Court Throws Out Suit Against Senate President Akpabio Over Senator Natasha’s Suspension

The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a lawsuit challenging Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Justice James Omotosho, ruling on Friday, held that the ten plaintiffs who filed the suit lacked the legal standing, or locus standi, to bring the case. He struck out the suit, describing it as without merit. The case, filed as FHC/ABJ/CS/654/2025 by Ovavu Illiyasu and nine others, sought to overturn the six-month suspension imposed on Akpoti-Uduaghan for alleged misconduct. The plaintiffs argued that the suspension would leave Kogi Central Senatorial District underrepresented. Justice Omotosho disagreed, noting that the plaintiffs were not in a position to contest the Senate’s decision in court. Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended by the Senate in July. She subsequently challenged the suspension, and in September, Justice Omotosho ordered her immediate reinstatement, declaring the Senate’s action unlawful. The Senate has appealed that ruling and requested a stay of execution, with the appeal still pending before the Court of Appeal.

Jonathan Reveals Boko Haram Once Selected Buhari as Negotiator

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has revealed that Boko Haram once selected Muhammadu Buhari to act as their negotiator with the Nigerian government. Jonathan made the disclosure on Friday during the public presentation of Scars, a book by former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor (retd.), in Abuja. He explained that the insurgents chose Buhari after Jonathan’s administration set up multiple committees to engage the group in dialogue. “One of the committees we set up then, Boko Haram nominated Buhari to lead their team to negotiate with the government,” Jonathan said. “I thought that if they had nominated Buhari to represent them and interact with the government committee, then when Buhari became president, it might have provided an easier path to negotiations, and they could have surrendered their weapons. But the problem still exists today.” Jonathan added that the insurgency’s persistence underscores its complexity, noting that Buhari’s inability to fully eliminate Boko Haram highlighted the challenges of addressing the crisis.

As we prepare for the diamond jubilee, we are happy to be part of this journey. Everything you have said today will be reported back to him, and he is waiting to hear your plans and areas where we can collaborate.” He commended the LOC chairman, Ben Ogbemudia, for accepting the responsibility of leading the committee, noting that his experience and commitment to the growth of sports journalism would ensure a memorable event. “We trust your capacity to deliver, and we look forward to seeing a celebration that will make history,” he added. Earlier, SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, who led the delegation, expressed appreciation to the NTA management for its consistent support. He recalled the assurances given by the DG when he assumed office. “From the very beginning, he told us his doors would always remain open to us, and I can tell you for free, he has kept that promi. That is why anytime I’m in Abuja, I make it a point of duty to come here — not just as a professional visit but to also learn from a senior colleague who has been there before us,” he said. The SWAN President outlined activities lined up for the 60th anniversary, scheduled to hold in Abuja from October 29 to 31, 2026. “We have already kick-started with thanksgiving services. By October this year, members from across the country will converge in Abuja. There will be symposium, paper presentations, a novelty football match, our full council meeting, the launch of the SWAN House project, as well as awards and gala night,” he explained. He also appealed for continued collaboration with NTA to give national visibility to the celebration, adding, “We are here to seek necessary partnership and assistance. We cannot do this alone. Corporate organisations like NTA can be a tremendous help, particularly in media coverage and promotion. We sincerely commend what NTA has been doing in sports development, and we are hopeful of your partnership in making SWAN@60 a grand success.” Benjamin further revealed that the Diamond jubilee event would serve as a moment of reflection for SWAN. “Sixty years of existence is not a small feat. This celebration gives us the opportunity to look back at our achievements, acknowledge areas where we need improvement, and re-commit to sports as a gateway to development in Nigeria,” he said.
