Temi Ajibade and Mr Eazi Share Challenges of Planning Three Weddings in Three Months

Temi Ajibade, daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, and her husband, musician Tosin Ajibade, popularly known as Mr Eazi, have opened up about the challenges they faced while organising their extravagant weddings across multiple countries. In a video snippet from their podcast, #thehowfarpod, shared on Instagram on Sunday, the couple spoke candidly about the stress and occasional disagreements that came with planning three destination weddings within a three-month period. “Three weddings in three months, like that’s insane,” Temi said. “Three destination events in such a short time.” Mr Eazi added, “And we still had one more to go,” explaining that their initial plan for a simple, private court wedding in Nigeria became impossible to maintain. He recalled that a friend had suggested holding the civil ceremony at their residence with court officials, but Temi eventually decided against it. “I thought that was cool, but you were like no, you’re not having that,” he said. Temi clarified she wasn’t completely opposed to the idea but was happy they ultimately went with her preferred location, Monaco. When asked why they didn’t have the civil wedding in the UK, she explained, “Because it does not feel like a true link for me. Even Monaco is more sentimental.” Mr Eazi admitted he was surprised by how complicated the wedding planning process turned out to be. “I thought getting married was just deciding you want to get married and then signing papers, but there was a mountain of administration involved,” he said. El-Rufai Denies Endorsing Any Region For 2027 Presidency, Labels Reports Fake News

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai has denied reports suggesting he endorsed a specific region to produce Nigeria’s president in 2027. Posting on his verified Facebook page, El-Rufai described the circulating claims as “fake news” and clarified that he had not made any such statement in speeches, interviews, or social media posts. He emphasised that his views should only be attributed to him when expressed on his official social media accounts or through recognised media outlets. El-Rufai also warned against misrepresenting opinion articles from other authors that he may share, noting that such distortions mislead public discourse. “These caveats are crucial as we confront both irresponsible politicking and the deliberate misuse of social media for spreading fake news,” he wrote. He criticised media organisations and senior editors for publishing unverified information, calling it part of the “unedifying olympics of fiction and fakery” prevalent on social media. “The deliberate attribution of claims I never made by fake news platforms should not be taken seriously,” he added, urging society to uphold accuracy in reporting. El-Rufai concluded by stressing the importance of verifying information before sharing, especially in today’s climate of widespread misinformation.

Morocco 2025: Super Eagles Battle Pharaohs in Cairo Friendly

Three-time winners Nigeria and seven-time champions Egypt will be at each other’s jugular at the Cairo Stadium on Tuesday evening, in a friendly match meant to prepare both teams for their campaigns at the 35th Africa Cup of Nations finals kicking off in Morocco on Sunday. Both teams will have the opportunity to test a clutch of newbies, with Nigeria manager Eric Sékou Chelle able to field the likes of goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, defender Ryan Alebiosu, midfielders Usman Muhammed, Tochukwu Nnadi and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, and forwards Paul Onuachu and Salim Fago Lawal, if he so desires. Pharaohs’ Coach Hossam Hassan, himself an AFCON legend, scored seven goals as Egypt won the 1998 edition of the championship in Burkina Faso, finishing as joint top scorer with South Africa’s Benni McCarthy, whose team ended up with the silver medals. Hassan will most probably weave his gameplan for the friendly match and the AFCON tournament itself around Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah, who, despite a hefty trophy shelf, is looking for his first AFCON title. There will also be Manchester City of England’s Omar Marmoush, Al Ahly’s Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mohamed Hany, Yasser Ibrahim, Emam Ashour and Mahmoud Trezeguet. There are also CAF Champions League holders Pyramids’ Mohamed Hamdy and Mostafa Fathi, and UAE-based Ibrahim Adel, as well as Mostafa Mohamed of FC Nantes in France. Chelle is most likely to set his store by goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, defenders Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi Calvin Bassey and Zaidu Sanusi, midfielders Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Alex Iwobi, and forwards Samuel Chukwueze, Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman. The match will kick off at 8pm Egypt time (7pm Nigeria time). As of Monday afternoon, 17 of the 28 players in Nigeria’s final list were in Cairo, with more players expected to arrive before Monday evening’s training session. The Super Eagles will depart Cairo for the Moroccan city of Fés aboard a chartered flight on Thursday. Nigeria’s campaign for a fourth continental crown (following triumphs in 1980, 1994 and 2013), is already themed NAIJA 4 THE WIN, and rolls off the ground on Tuesday, 23rd December with a clash against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars, in a repeat of the opening match of the 1980 finals that Nigeria hosted and won. The Eagles will then clash with 2004 hosts and winners Tunisia on Saturday, 27th December, before their final Group C encounter against Uganda’s Cranes on Tuesday, 30th December. All of Nigeria’s group phase matches hold at the Complexe Sportif de Fés. The Pharaohs, who are the only country to have achieved three consecutive triumphs (2006-2010), have to negotiate things with 1996 hosts and winners South Africa, as well as Angola and Zimbabwe in Group B. Their matches will take place at the Stade d’Agadir in the city of Agadir.

Saudi Arabia Breaks Execution Record Again With 340 Deaths in 2025

Saudi Arabia has set a new record for the most executions carried out in a single year, with 340 people put to death in 2025, following the execution of three individuals on Monday, according to AFP’s tally. The figure surpasses the previous record of 338 executions in 2024 and marks the second consecutive year the kingdom has broken its own record since rights groups began documenting executions in the 1990s. A statement from the Interior Ministry, carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), confirmed that the three people executed in the Mecca region were convicted of murder. Of this year’s total, 232 executions involved drug-related offenses, accounting for the majority of the deaths. Analysts link the rise in executions to the kingdom’s “war on drugs” launched in 2023, with many of those previously arrested now facing capital punishment after completing legal proceedings. Saudi Arabia had temporarily suspended executions for drug offenses for around three years but resumed them at the end of 2022. The government has increased police checkpoints on highways and at border crossings, confiscated millions of captagon pills, and arrested numerous traffickers, with foreigners disproportionately affected. The kingdom, the world’s largest oil exporter, relies heavily on foreign labor in construction, domestic work, and hospitality. Critics have long condemned its use of the death penalty as excessive, noting it contrasts sharply with efforts to present a modern image internationally. Amnesty International has been tracking executions in Saudi Arabia since 1990, as data from earlier years remains largely unclear.

Recuse Yourself, Don’t Be Part of Witch-Hunt, Malami Warns EFCC Chairman

Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has demanded that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman recuse himself from an ongoing investigation and threatened prosecution, describing the probe as a politically motivated “witch-hunt.” In a press release on Monday, Malami described the probe as politically motivated, linking it to his recent defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He alleged that the EFCC Chairman harbors a longstanding grudge stemming from the Justice Ayo Salami Judicial Commission of Inquiry, which investigated corruption allegations within the EFCC during Malami’s tenure as Attorney-General. “The present investigation—marked by illegal detentions, media harassment, and procedural abuses—bears all the hallmarks of retaliatory persecution motivated by personal vengeance,” Malami said, stressing that the current EFCC leadership cannot conduct a fair or impartial probe into his activities. Malami formally demanded that the EFCC Chairman step aside and that the matter be handed over to another government agency to ensure credibility, impartiality, and public confidence. He also urged the current Attorney-General of the Federation to intervene, warning that continued involvement by the EFCC Chairman could lead to further institutional damage and abuse of prosecutorial powers. He emphasized the need for judicial oversight, insisting on immediate arraignment before a competent court in line with Sections 35(3), (4), and (5) of the Nigerian Constitution. According to Malami, only a court—not a politically compromised agency—can lawfully adjudicate the matter. Malami further accused the EFCC of planning to rely on questionable witnesses, including individuals convicted abroad, calling such tactics “desperate, scandalous, and corrosive to the integrity of Nigeria’s criminal justice system.” His office has formally requested certified copies of the petitions and investigation reports underpinning the EFCC’s actions, citing complaints from Human and Environmental Agenda and Grassroot Advocacy for Peace and Good Governance. Malami concluded by underscoring his commitment to clearing his name through lawful judicial processes and warning against the politicization of anti-corruption agencies. “The law must remain supreme—above politics, above power, and above persons,” he said. The statement was issued by Mohammed Bello Doka, Special Assistant on Media to Abubakar Malami, SAN.
