Penny Lancaster Says She Felt ‘Belittled’ by Former MasterChef Host Gregg Wallace

TV personality and former MasterChef contestant Penny Lancaster has revealed she felt “ashamed and belittled” by how former host Gregg Wallace treated her during her time on the show. In an interview with Sky News’ The UK Tonight with Sarah-Jane Mee, Lancaster, who is also a model and married to rock legend Sir Rod Stewart, said she was not only hurt by Wallace’s actions but also felt let down by the show’s producers, Banijay UK. “I didn’t feel like I was supported in that moment,” Lancaster said. “I felt ashamed and belittled by the way Gregg Wallace treated me, but equally disappointed that the production company hadn’t come to my rescue.” Lancaster, now 54, appeared on MasterChef in 2021. She said speaking out was important and part of a broader effort to foster a safer, more respectful working environment in the entertainment industry. “There’s still a long way to go, but just by people being honest about their experiences, I think it helps in the long run,” she added.

Trump Meets Netanyahu at White House as Gaza Peace Plan and U.S. Shutdown Deadline Loom

President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday amid rising global tensions over the war in Gaza and a looming U.S. government shutdown. Standing together at the West Wing entrance, Trump and Netanyahu shook hands and posed with thumbs up before entering the Oval Office. As reporters looked on, Trump said he was “very confident” that a peace deal to end the war in Gaza could be reached “quickly.” “We’re working hard. I think we’re very close,” Trump added, referencing his administration’s proposed 21-point Gaza peace plan. Netanyahu, who has faced mounting international criticism over Israel’s actions in Gaza, smiled but did not respond when asked if he supported the deal. President Trump also spoke by phone with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, earlier in the day. A Qatari adviser visited the White House ahead of the Netanyahu meeting, signaling Qatar’s continuing role in peace negotiations. Qatar has been central to brokering ceasefire efforts, though its involvement has come under strain after an Israeli airstrike reportedly targeted Hamas leadership in the Gulf state. Sources familiar with the matter say the Qatari engagement is part of a broader push to gain Netanyahu’s support for the proposed U.S.-backed agreement, which aims to end the war and secure the release of hostages still held in Gaza. Meanwhile, Washington faces a domestic crisis as the federal government approaches a shutdown. Congress has until midnight Tuesday to pass a spending bill and avert widespread disruptions to federal operations. Talks are ongoing, but divisions in Congress make the path to resolution uncertain. Trump and Netanyahu are expected to hold a joint press conference later today, where updates on the peace plan and broader U.S.–Israel relations may be revealed. With both international diplomacy and domestic governance hanging in the balance, the stakes in Washington could not be higher.

Osun NULGE Alleges FG Mismanaged LG Allocations, Accuses Top Officials of Aiding Sacked APC Council Executives

Osogbo, Nigeria — The Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has accused top officials of the Federal Government of illegally diverting local government allocations to unauthorized accounts operated by sacked local council chairmen and councillors aligned with the All Progressives Congress (APC). Speaking during a press conference in Osogbo on Sunday, the Osun NULGE president, Dr. Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, named the Minister of Finance, the Accountant-General of the Federation, and the Attorney-General of the Federation as key actors in what he described as an “unprecedented abuse of power.” “We have it on good authority that these three principal officers of the Federal Government have released Osun State’s local government allocations for March to September 2025 into illegal bank accounts opened by court-sacked APC chairmen and councillors,” Ogungbangbe alleged. According to him, the accounts in question were opened without due process in United Bank for Africa (UBA) and are not officially recognized by the state or local government authorities. NULGE Warns of Judicial Disrespect Dr. Ogungbangbe emphasized that the matter is still before the courts, noting that a Federal High Court had on May 15, 2025, ordered all parties to maintain the status quo — an order acknowledged by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in court filings. “If these federal officers cannot respect our Constitution, they should at least respect the authority of the judiciary, especially since this issue is still pending before the Supreme Court,” he said. The NULGE president insisted that new local government executives have already been elected, replacing the APC officials previously sacked by both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal. He further warned the Federal Government not to undermine democratic governance or use the situation as a pretext for a state of emergency in Osun. “We urge citizens to stay calm and not allow enemies of the state to provoke unrest. The ultimate goal of these actions is to create anarchy and force a state of emergency so they can hijack our resources,” he warned.

Abuja Lawyer Remanded in Police Custody Over Alleged Forgery and Impersonation

Abuja Lawyer Remanded in Police Custody Over Alleged Forgery and Impersonation

Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Apo, Abuja, on Monday ordered the remand of Abuja-based lawyer, Victor Giwa, in police custody following his arrest in Lagos. Giwa was apprehended in compliance with a bench warrant issued by the court after he failed to appear for arraignment on charges of forgery and impersonation. The warrant, issued on September 15, 2025, also named a second defendant, Ibitade Bukola, who remains at large. At Monday’s hearing, the prosecution, led by Theophilus Silas, informed the court that efforts are ongoing to arrest Bukola before the next adjourned date. Giwa Opposes Remand, Cites Health Concerns Representing himself, Giwa strongly opposed the prosecution’s application to remand him under Sections 293 and 43(4) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA). He argued that the cited legal provisions did not apply to his situation, and emphasized that he had previously informed the court of his absence through a formal letter. “I am a minister in the temple of justice. I will never undermine the court,” Giwa said. “Due to health issues, I have been advised to avoid stress to prevent a stroke. I passionately appeal to be granted bail so I can recover and be strong enough for trial.” Giwa insisted that the prosecution’s request for an abridged hearing date came as a surprise and accused them of ambushing the defense. He also noted that since the charges are joint, arraignment could not proceed without the second defendant present. Judge Denies Oral Bail Plea Justice Onwuegbuzie noted that as a legal practitioner, Giwa should have filed a formal bail application rather than making an oral plea. “A written bail application is required. In the absence of that, the defendant is remanded in police custody,” the judge ruled. The matter was adjourned to October 8, 2025, for further proceedings.

Iyabo Ojo Renews Legal Battle Against Lizzy Anjorin Over Alleged Defamation and Threats

The long-running feud between Nollywood actresses Iyabo Ojo and Lizzy Anjorin has reignited, as Ojo announces plans to pursue fresh legal action over alleged defamatory statements, curses, and threats targeting her and her family. Eyes of Lagos reports. This new development follows a setback earlier this year when the Lagos State High Court, Osborne Division, dismissed Ojo’s ₦1 billion defamation lawsuit against Anjorin due to procedural errors. The court also ordered Ojo’s lawyer, Olabimpe Ajegbomogun, to pay ₦500,000 in legal costs to Anjorin’s counsel, Ademola Olabiyi. Ojo Speaks Out on Instagram Taking to Instagram on Monday, Ojo broke her silence, sharing that her legal team has been monitoring Anjorin’s public statements and preparing for renewed legal proceedings. “My legal team isn’t sleeping. They are taking note of everything. A wise person listens to learned counsel. Everything has its timing,” she wrote. The actress expressed anguish over what she described as relentless verbal attacks from Anjorin — including curses and death wishes allegedly directed at her children and infant grandson. “The insults, curses, even death wishes Liz has directed at my family, especially my grandson, are heartbreaking. Most times, I struggle to hold my peace, but I choose to ignore the distractions. Who God has blessed, no one can curse,” she added. Family First, Then Legal Action Ojo explained that she had taken a step back from the conflict to focus on her family — especially after becoming a grandmother and supporting her daughter, Priscilla Ojo. However, she hinted that with her return to Lagos, firmer legal steps would be taken. A Feud Years in the Making The hostility between Ojo and Anjorin stretches back several years and has played out publicly, from social media spats to court appearances. Tensions reportedly escalated when Ojo publicly supported Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja-General and daughter of President Bola Tinubu — who is also married to Anjorin’s husband. Anjorin allegedly took this as a personal affront, sparking a series of online tirades. Since then, Anjorin has regularly used Facebook live streams to criticize Ojo, leading to a flurry of parody videos and memes across TikTok and other platforms. Ojo also claimed that her family has been threatened, including a chilling letter received by her daughter in May warning that they were being surveilled. Fire Incident Raises Alarms The situation intensified further after a fire broke out at Ojo’s Lagos office. She linked the incident to the ongoing threats, publicly warning that should anything happen to her or her loved ones, Anjorin should be held accountable. “Silence Can Be Powerful” Despite losing her initial lawsuit, Ojo insists her silence has been strategic and based on legal counsel. Her recent statements suggest she’s now ready to escalate the matter. “Silence can be powerful,” she noted, implying that the time for legal restraint has passed. One of Nollywood’s Most Public Feuds With court cases, social media drama, and escalating threats, the clash between Iyabo Ojo and Lizzy Anjorin continues to be one of Nollywood’s most visible and dramatic celebrity rivalries.

From Diplomacy to Sports, Israel Faces Growing Global Isolation Amid Gaza War

From Diplomacy to Sports, Israel Faces Growing Global Isolation Amid Gaza War

Israel is facing an unprecedented wave of diplomatic and cultural backlash as its war in Gaza intensifies, with consequences now spreading beyond international politics into trade, entertainment, and global sports. The mounting isolation comes in the wake of a series of controversial military actions, including a ground offensive in Gaza City and a strike against Hamas leaders on Qatari soil. Last week, an independent United Nations commission became the first to officially accuse Israel of committing genocide in Gaza — a charge echoed by several human rights organizations but categorically denied by the Israeli government. Diplomatic Fallout The consequences are reverberating through Israel’s international alliances. The European Union, Israel’s largest trading partner, has proposed partial trade sanctions, which would suspend parts of its free trade agreement with the country. Meanwhile, countries such as France, Spain, Italy, the UK, and the Netherlands have imposed partial or full arms embargoes against Israel. In August, Norway’s sovereign wealth fund — the world’s largest — announced a divestment from Israeli companies due to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Even Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly acknowledged the isolation. Speaking earlier this month, he warned that Israel was entering a period of “a kind of isolation” that could last for years. While he later downplayed the comment, attributing it to the defense sector specifically, the message was clear: Israel may need to reorient its economy and defense industry to reduce dependence on foreign partners. Cultural and Sporting Boycotts Israel is also facing pushback in the cultural sphere. Broadcasters in Ireland, the Netherlands, and Spain have announced boycotts of the Eurovision Song Contest if Israel is allowed to participate in 2026. Irish broadcaster RTE said that participating would be “unconscionable” given the scale of civilian casualties in Gaza. In Belgium, a major music festival in Ghent cancelled a performance by the Munich Philharmonic over concerns about its Israeli conductor Lahav Shani. Organizers cited the lack of clarity on Shani’s stance toward “the genocidal regime in Tel Aviv.” In Hollywood, thousands of actors and filmmakers — including Emma Stone, Olivia Colman, and Andrew Garfield — have signed a pledge not to collaborate with Israeli cultural institutions, accusing them of complicity in “genocide and apartheid.” Sporting Sanctions and Protests The world of sports has not been spared. A major cycling event in Spain was disrupted by pro-Palestinian protests, leading to the cancellation of its final stage due to the participation of the Israel-Premier Tech team. Separately, Israeli players withdrew from a chess tournament in Spain after being told they could not compete under their national flag. Israeli officials are now scrambling to prevent suspension from European football tournaments, amid growing calls for Israel’s removal from competitions governed by UEFA. Culture and Sports Minister Miki Zohar confirmed that the government is working behind the scenes to “block the initiative to expel Israel from UEFA.” Meanwhile, several high-profile athletes, including Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, have publicly condemned the war and expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people. A ‘South Africa Moment’? The international backlash has drawn comparisons to the boycott of apartheid South Africa, with growing pressure on governments and organizations to cut ties with Israel. Former Israeli ambassador to South Africa, Ilan Baruch, says the cultural and economic isolation now taking shape could carry real weight. “Eurovision and football are very, very popular,” Baruch told CNN. “If you connect the pressure on Israel’s policies with boycotts in culture and sports, it will make an impact — as it did with South Africa.” Baruch now leads a policy group advocating for recognition of a Palestinian state and a two-state solution. He argues that Israel’s current level of privilege in global trade and diplomacy is no longer sustainable while it “undermines Palestinian human rights and future.” UN Recognition and ICC Scrutiny At this year’s UN General Assembly, several major nations — including Canada, France, and the UK — formally recognized the State of Palestine, further isolating Israel on the diplomatic front. A UN genocide commission has also recommended that the International Criminal Court (ICC) include genocide in its ongoing investigation into the situation in Palestine. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is already under an ICC arrest warrant, which has severely limited his international travel. His recent route to New York for the UNGA avoided French and Spanish airspace, countries that could potentially enforce the warrant. Despite the growing divide, the United States continues to support Israel diplomatically. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged criticism of Israel’s recent military actions but insisted that the U.S.–Israel alliance remains “strong.” Looking Ahead While some analysts suggest that this wave of global condemnation may subside after the war, others see it as a turning point. Robert Satloff, executive director of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, warned that some of Israel’s most reliable international allies are “leaving the fold.” “Over time, there’s a clear pattern of once-strong supporters moving in the opposite direction,” Satloff said. As military operations in Gaza continue and global scrutiny deepens, Israel’s standing on the world stage is facing its most serious challenge in decades — one that could reshape its international relationships for years to come.

Woman raped by group of men in Oxfordshire churchyard

The woman, who is in her 30s, was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning. Police are urging a woman who tried to stop the attack to come forward. A woman has been raped outside a church in Oxford by a group of men, police have said. The woman, who is in her 30s, was attacked in the churchyard of St Mary’s and the surrounding area of Banbury town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning, Thames Valley Police said. The force is appealing for a woman who tried to stop the attack and help the victim to come forward. Detective Sergeant Mark Personius said they do not have a description of the “good Samaritan” but encouraged the person to contact police as she might have “vital information that can help us piece together what happened”. “This is a horrific crime and Thames Valley Police is conducting a thorough investigation to identify the offenders,” DS Personius added. “The town centre would have been busy on a Saturday night into the early hours of a Sunday morning, therefore, I would also appeal to anyone else who saw or heard anything in the area between about 12am and 2.30am this morning to come forward.” He said a scene watch is in place at the church to enable the force to carry out forensic examinations. Officers have also been instructed to carry out house-to-house and CCTV inquiries.

2 Dead, 8 Injured in Shooting at Mormon Church in Michigan; Suspect Killed by Police

Grand Blanc Township, Michigan – Sept. 28, 2025 — A gunman opened fire at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during a Sunday service in Michigan, killing two people and injuring at least eight others before being shot dead by police. Authorities identified the suspect as Thomas Jacob Sanford, 40, of Burton. According to Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye, Sanford drove his vehicle into the front of the church before exiting with an assault rifle and opening fire on congregants. More than a hundred people were inside the building at the time of the attack. Police responded within eight minutes of the initial emergency call and fatally shot the suspect at the scene. One of the injured victims remains in critical condition, while the others are in stable condition. All are being treated at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital. In addition to the shooting, a fire broke out inside the church, which officials believe was started deliberately by the gunman. The fire has since been extinguished, but authorities warn additional victims may be found as they continue to secure and search the building. Witnesses described scenes of chaos and heartbreak. One woman who had been inside the church told local media, “I lost friends in there, and some of my little primary children that I teach on Sundays were hurt. It’s very devastating for me.” The motive behind the attack remains unknown. Investigators are searching the suspect’s home and analyzing phone records. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer condemned the shooting as “unacceptable” and expressed condolences to the Grand Blanc community. President Donald Trump said he had been briefed on the incident and called it “horrendous.” The FBI is assisting with the investigation. Director Kash Patel called the attack “a cowardly and criminal act” and said the agency is working closely with local law enforcement. Grand Blanc Township, a community of around 7,700 residents, is located roughly 60 miles northwest of Detroit. The tragedy occurred just one day after the death of Russell M. Nelson, the 101-year-old president of the LDS Church.
