Davido slams INEC over Edo Election

Nigerian singer David Adedeji Adeleke aka Davido has slammed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the conduct of the Edo State Gubernatorial election.  Davido, 31, on Sunday took the Commission to the cleaners.  “My mom is from Edo for those wondering why I’m interested in the election … but we as Nigerians should be concerned sha.  “@inecnigeria shame on you I know how many times I had to come in here and rant before they got it right in Osun!  “It’s really bad. God help us,” the Songwriter fumes on his official X handle.  Against Davido’s favoured candidate, the All Progressive Congress candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo was declared winner of the election.  Okpebholo polled a total of 291,667 votes to defeat Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 247, 274 votes.

Super Eagles’ star Boniface hints at wedding 

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface appeared ready to walk down the aisle with his heart rob.  Though Bayer 04 Leverkusen forward is still keeping the identity of the lucky lady under wraps but he has promised his fans top notch reception.  “On my wedding day people wey Dey post memes go get one canopy,” Boniface assured.  The Nigerian struck late as Bayer 04 Leverkusen twice come from behind to beat VfL Wolfsburg 4-3 in a Bundesliga classic on Sunday.  In the third minute of stoppage time, substitute Boniface produced a moment of magic. Tinubu orders crackdown on Cybercriminals, Transnational car thieves 

Nigeria will continue to work with its international partners to ensure that cyber criminals and organised crime groups involved in transnational car thefts are deprived of the benefits of their illegal activities.  To this end, President Bola Tinubu has directed security and law enforcement agencies — including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) — to intensify efforts in cracking down on individuals in possession of and trafficking in stolen vehicles.  The President noted that one of the most effective tools available to law enforcement agencies is depriving criminals of the proceeds from their illicit activities.   He acknowledged the recent handover of 53 vehicles and $180,300 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), on behalf of two Canadian citizens who were victims of cybercrimes perpetrated by Nigerian nationals.  While expressing concern over the involvement of transnational organised criminal groups in exporting stolen vehicles to Nigeria, President Tinubu commends the Commission for collaborating with partners to ensure a coordinated and professional repose to this menace.   The President further directed all relevant agencies, particularly the anti-corruption agencies, to protect Nigeria’s economic and financial integrity from organised crime infiltration.   He also demanded that the value of seized and confiscated moveable assets be preserved for the state, society, and victims in line with existing legislation and international conventions.   The president strongly affirmed, “Nigeria is not a destination for stolen vehicles and a haven for illicit wealth from foreign countries. ”  President Tinubu affirmed that his administration remains committed to tackling money laundering, cybercrime, and other financial crimes.

Edo 2024 election: PDP Governors task INEC to live up to oath of office

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has tasked INEC to live up to oath of office on Edo State Gubernatorial election.  The forum made this appeal in a statement signed by Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Executive Governor, Bauchi State & Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum on Sunday.  The statement read in part; “As the process runs its course, we wish to remind the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, of the need to live up to the oath of office of the Commission’s principal officers and the expectations of the people, to serve as an impartial umpire committed to deepening our multi party democracy and the survival of our country. “As the country perches on the horns of grave economic and security challenges, it is our expectation that INEC and everyone involved in the Edo Governorship Elections will respect the sovereign wishes of the people of Edo State and spare the nation the unpredictable consequences of a disputed result at this time.  “This becomes more imperative, especially in the face of the threat to democracy  by the total state capture inclination of the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress, APC government.” The PDPGF unequivocally reiterated its commitment to democratic best practices, and the peace and stability of a united Nigeria in which the citizens are not only spared the contrived ordeal of the moment but, more importantly, provided alternative opportunities to realise their legitimate dreams. “We look forward to the announcement of a result that truly represents the wishes of the Edo people as freely expressed through their votes yesterday.”

BBNaija 2024: Tjay, Shaun join Handi on eviction list 

Tjay, a medical doctor from Ogun State has been evicted from the Big Brother Naija 2024 No Loose Guard’ house.  Tjay, 33, entered the Big Brother’s house with his long-term friend, Ben A middle child, Tjay is the second of three siblings. He has a brother and a sister. Tjay is quite the polymath.  He’s a fine artist and fashion designer too. His wish is to be a great role model for the Nigerian youth.  “I would like to influence our next generation positively by showcasing fun but strong moral values.” Edo State born entrepreneur and model Shaun also failed to make to the last two weeks in the house.  Shaun, 28,  with the gift of the gab is one of five siblings and the eldest son.  Although half of his family is in Lagos and the other half in London, they remain close-knit and haven’t allowed the distance to hinder their bond.  He believed his smoothness has opened many doors for him and he is ready to be challenged.

Handi evicted from BBNaija 2024

Handi has been evicted from the Big Brother Naija 2024 No Loose Guard’ house.  The newly evicted housemate was nominated for possible eviction along with her sister Wanni, Kassia Shaun on Monday.   Handi has joined Ben, Chizoba who were evicted last Sunday.  The nominations on Monday night took a new twist as housemates this knew who nominated them for eviction.  Thirteen housemates are left in the house following eviction of Handi.
